Assertion Reason on English Grammar

Given below are two statements : One is labelled as Assertion (A) and the other is labelled as Reason (R).
Assertion (A) : Articles are very important words in English and so is their knowledge. Reasons (R) : Two or more pronouns joined by "and" require a plural verb.
In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below:

Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A)
- B.
Both (A) and (R) are true but (R) is NOT the correct explanation of (A)
- C.
(A) is true but (R) is false
- D.
(A) is false but (R) is true

Explanation
Assertion (A) is true (articles are important). Reason (R) is also true (subjects connected by 'and' take a plural verb). However, R is about subject-verb agreement and has nothing to do with articles, so R is NOT the correct explanation of A.
