Explanation

Initial milk = 2734×85=67.5\frac{27}{34} \times 85 = 67.5 litres, water = 17.5 litres. In new ratio 3:1, milk remains 67.5 litres. Water needed = 67.53=22.5\frac{67.5}{3} = 22.5 litres. Water to add = 22.5−17.5=522.5 - 17.5 = 5 litres.
