Compound and Complex Sentences

Given below are two statements: Assertion [A] and Reason [R].

Assertion [A]: The following sentence is an example of a compound sentence: "The moon was bright and we could see our way". Reason [R]: A complex sentence consists of one main clause and one or more subordinate clauses.

In the light of the above statement, choose the correct answer from the option given below:

    Both [A] and [R] are true and [R] is the correct explanation of [A]
