Let the quantity of the original mixture taken be $2$ units. Since lemon juice and sugar syrup are in equal proportion in the original mixture:

• Lemon juice $= 1$ unit
• Sugar syrup $= 1$ unit

Now, new mixture is created by taking original mixture and sugar syrup in the ratio $1 : 3$. So if $2$ units of mixture are taken, we add $2 \times 3 = 6$ units of pure sugar syrup.

Total lemon juice in the new mixture $= 1$ unit. Total sugar syrup in the new mixture $= 1 + 6 = 7$ units.
