Nalini has received a total of 600 WhatsApp messages from four friends Anita, Bina, Chaitra and Divya. Bina and Divya have respectively sent 30% and 20% of these messages, while Anita has sent an equal number of messages as Chaitra. Moreover, Nalini finds that of Anita's, Bina's, Chaitra's and Divya's messages, 60%, 40%, 80% and 50% respectively are jokes. What percentage of the jokes, received by Nalini, have been sent neither by Divya nor by Bina?

Explanation

Total messages = 600. Bina (B) sent 30%×600=18030\% \times 600 = 180. Divya (D) sent 20%×600=12020\% \times 600 = 120. Remaining = 600−300=300600 - 300 = 300, split equally between Anita (A) and Chaitra (C): 150150 each.

Jokes: A: 60% of 150=9060\% \text{ of } 150 = 90. B: 40% of 180=7240\% \text{ of } 180 = 72. C: 80% of 150=12080\% \text{ of } 150 = 120. D: 50% of 120=6050\% \text{ of } 120 = 60.

Total jokes = 90+72+120+60=34290 + 72 + 120 + 60 = 342. Jokes sent neither by D nor by B = A + C = 90+120=21090 + 120 = 210. Percentage = 210342×100=61.4%\frac{210}{342} \times 100 = 61.4\%.
